Department of Economics Curriculum

The first two years of the curriculum for Department of Economics students provide a foundation for studying economics through courses such as Introduction to Economics, Microeconomics A, and Microeconomics A ・B. These classes prepare students to study economics in English.

From the second year, students are able to select specialized courses that fit their interests. Also from the second year, students may choose to participate in the Economics in English Program. The Economics in English Program is designed to teach economics in English and for the students to develop practical abilities. A Certificate of Completion is rewarded to those who fulfill the program requirements.

There are seminars offered in the third and fourth years, where students specialize in topics in economics as well as conduct independent research.

In addition to lectures, special courses are offered in other styles, such as Active Learning Seminars (ALS). Active Learning Seminars examine economic topics through interactive discussions and communication in smaller groups.
